The Wyvern Dance Band provides a lively mix of LIVE traditional folk music from various cultural sources including English, Scottish, Irish, European in general and the USA. The music ranges from moving Airs and gentle Waltzes through easy listening and catchy sing-along tunes to fast and furious pieces guaranteed to get feet tapping and people dancing.
Collectively, the band has a wealth of experience spanning many years of playing traditional folk, country dancing, military, jazz and rock styles of music making them a very versatile bunch of musicians indeed. A wide range of good traditional music is guaranteed and of course, the band has it's own experienced callers for barn dances.
The band is available to perform at social events throughout Central Southern England where good traditional music and 'a great time had by all' is the first priority. Every THIRD Friday of the month, anyone wishing to learn or to brush up on their English country dance / barn dance skills under the expert guidance of Robin and Brenda Geard, are invited to join in at the village hall in Grately, Hants. The aim is to enable dancers to try out new material and generally to enjoy a fun evening of traditional music and good company. If you are interested in joining the fun please telephone or E-mail Robin and Brenda for more details. (Telephone number below) *Dancing from 8pm.*
The Wyvern Dance Band recently produced its second CD. Containing 15 tracks ranging from waltzes through instrumentals to duets and beautiful ballads, the album is representative of the sort material currently performed at the functions and dances. Sound samples from the album will soon be available on this site.
